What brands does PHA service?

No bias here! We will service all makes and models of HVAC equipment, generators and accessories. No matter how old your system, we’re committed to your comfort and budget.

What do I do if I need emergency service?

No time is a good time for an emergency. Luckily, PHA always has 24-hour Emergency Service to give you peace of mind in your time of need. If you are in need of emergency service, please call 757-872-6062.

What is the average life-expectancy of a heat pump system?

The average life of a typical heat pump system is between 12-15 years. After this time, you may notice your system requiring more repairs and that’s usually a good time to begin considering replacement. Upgrading an older system could increase not only your comfort, but efficiency and could lower your utility bills 20-40%!

Can I get a job estimate over the phone?

Yes, of course! We’ll do our very best to provide the most accurate pricing information we can. Keep in mind there are many variables which could affect pricing such as equipment sizing and location, condition of ductwork, wiring and code changes for flood zones.

Yes! We are happy to provide numerous financing options including no interest options to help suit your budget.

What’s the difference between service and maintenance?

We understand that can be confusing. Our “Service Team” is the department for systems that currently have a problem which needs addressing. This could mean an issue that requires troubleshooting of any kind. When we discuss our “Maintenance Team”, we’re referring to routine maintenance, which can be performed at any time!

How often should I change my filters?

Our industry’s standards recommend changing your filters every 30 days. Keeping your filters regularly changed will keep your system stress-free and provide a healthier living environment for you and your system!

What is PHA’s diagnostic fee?

PHA’s diagnostic fee for a Service Call is $89. This allows us the ability to send an educated, qualified technician right to your doorstep of your home or business who will provide a trusted diagnosis of your system’s current problem. From there, we will ask your approval for any repairs.

Should I repair or replace my system?

This is an important question! There are a few things to consider when deciding to repair or replace, especially your system’s age and the amount of money you’ve invested in previous repairs. Other factors to consider are energy efficiency (are you paying in utility bills each month what it would cost to finance a new, energy-efficient system?) and whether the equipment has surpassed its life-expectancy, typically between 12-15 years for most equipment.

What is a SEER rating?

SEER is an abbreviation for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, long story short, the way we measure the efficiency of a comfort system! The higher the better with SEER. The more your system has, the more efficiency you will get from your system! PHA sells up to a 20 SEER system.

What’s this I hear of R-22 Refrigerant phasing out forever?

The Federal government is phasing out R-22, the most common type of refrigerant in older comfort systems. In its place comes R-410A, a more ‘ozone friendly’ refrigerant. Keep in mind if you are the owner of an older system that prices have already started to skyrocket, and it will only get worse. Now may be a good time to consider planning for replacement. 

I am the tenant. Can I place a service call?

In accordance with Virginia state law, if you are a tenant and in need of emergency assistance, please call your landlord and advise them to call us to place a service call. At that point, we’d be happy to reach out to the tenant directly for scheduling. 

How do I register my equipment?

No need! When you have a system professionally installed by PHA, we will register the equipment and all warranties for you and provide you a copy of the registration. No hassle.

I just purchased my home. How do I transfer my warranty?

This depends on the manufacturer of the equipment. There are many different rules! Trane requires the new homeowner to transfer the warranty of their equipment within 60 days of closing on their new home. We can certainly help you through this process, just give us a call!
